Why do you think filmmakers continue to use stereotypes, even when they can be harmful or inaccurate? Explain one reason discussed in class and give your opinion on whether this justifies their use.

Prompt: i believe that filmmaker still use stereotypes in their movie because it helps the audience who is watching the movie better understand a certain time period or location and what certain cultures/groups had to face during that time. It is also common for movies to use these stereotypes to betray certain characters because they aren't willing to put in the effort to understand the person's culture and what comes along with it. I don't think it justifies the use of using stereotypes and movie if they just don't want to do the research or they're trying to show people certain stereotypes. This is because even though some people may understand the stereotype being presented, others may think that certain groups that are portrayed under the stereotype are just like that.

Summary: today we worked on a common lit.

Reflection: Though it is common for movies to have stereotypes in it I just think that it shouldn't be a common practice anymore. This is because I think the stereotypes and movies even when trying to educate others can be very harmful and continue the negative aspect and power that a stereotype has on a certain culture.

Discuss something meaningful or memorable you experienced over the break, or reflect on what you felt most thankful for during that time.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

In "The Lamb" and "The Tyger", both poems suggest that beauty and danger can come from the same source. Describe a time when something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you. How did that experience change the way you see the world or the idea of “goodness”?
