Letters 11–16 show how relationships can be full of misunderstanding and pressure. Harpo wants love, but he also wants power. Sofia wants freedom, not control. Reflect on a time when someone’s desire for control hurt a friendship or relationship. What advice would you give to Harpo or Sofia if you could?

Prompt: One time when I was in middle school one of my friends wanted to be the person who was in charge of everything in our friend group. This caused the people in the group to become upset this was because they didn't want one person to become the "leader of the group" this caused the friend group to split apart. I would tell Harpo and Sofia to follow what seems right, don't listen to other people to base on how your marraige show go.

Summary: Today we just read the book the color purple.

Reflection: I think that it is important to listen to what feels right for you and the people around you, rather than looking at how others are.

Discuss something meaningful or memorable you experienced over the break, or reflect on what you felt most thankful for during that time.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.
