Today we focused on constructing a strong literary argument paragraph about Wild and whether discomfort is necessary for meaningful personal growth. After working through the claim-evidence-analysis structure, explain which part of the paragraph was most challenging for you and why. Do you find it more difficult to create an arguable claim or to move beyond summary in your analysis?

Prompt: I think the hardest part of writing the essay for me was actually figuring out what I needed to write to express the connection between the evidence and the point I was trying to prove. This was because I had ideas on what I should say but I didn't know which was best and how I would say it to get my point across. This just overall caused me to struggle in the writing process. I find it more difficult to move Beyond a summary in my analysis because it can be difficult to elaborate more on what happened in the text without summarizing what specifically happened.

Summary: Today we worked on writing a paragraph.

Reflection: it is important when writing to understand which part you struggle the most on and understand how you can work on that. When writing it can be challenging to start the paragraph with a well enough sentence to get your point across but once you're able to it can be easier to write after that.
