Celie tells Harpo to “beat” Sofia because she believes that’s how men control women, but this advice causes pain and conflict. Think about a time when someone gave you advice that sounded right at first but ended up being wrong. How did it affect your situation or relationships? What lesson did you learn about thinking for yourself?

prompt: One time I was told that I shouldn't take AP physics because it was to difficult for me. This turned out to be wrong because the subjects that we were learning would be easier in regular physics. This turned out to be wrong because of the teacher I was given made the regular physics class so much more difficult than the class that students took with AP physics. This caused me to become upset with the person who told me not to take AP physics because they lied to me and made my life that year so much harder. I learned that I should look more into a class before I take them.

Summary: Today we worked on the reading the color purple and the video assignment.

Reflection: I think that it is important to look at all of your options before you make a descision about something important. this can eleminate the room for error and the option to be upset with yourself for making a mistake.

Discuss something meaningful or memorable you experienced over the break, or reflect on what you felt most thankful for during that time.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

In "The Lamb" and "The Tyger", both poems suggest that beauty and danger can come from the same source. Describe a time when something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you. How did that experience change the way you see the world or the idea of “goodness”?
