Troy’s complaint about the unfair job system shows his frustration with racial discrimination. How did this conversation make you think about fairness and opportunity in society today? If you were in Troy’s position, what would you do?

Prompt: i think in the modern day compared to when the time period where Troy was set in is different and many different ways but there are also several different ways that it is not different. Though in the modern day it is more racially fair between what people get job wise and other things similar to that. I think there is still a big gap in the treatment of people during the workplace due to racial ideals. If I were in Choice position I would also be upset I wouldn't want to have to do the most laborious and least rewarding job just because of the way I look.

Summary: Today we started reading the book Fences.

Reflection: i think that learning new literature and reading about it to understand how culturally people are affected during different time periods and different areas around the world can help the modern day understand what life was like for others.

Discuss something meaningful or memorable you experienced over the break, or reflect on what you felt most thankful for during that time.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

In "The Lamb" and "The Tyger", both poems suggest that beauty and danger can come from the same source. Describe a time when something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you. How did that experience change the way you see the world or the idea of “goodness”?
