It’s Homecoming Week! 🎉 What do you love most about being part of the Lakeside community? How do you show off your school spirit? What is your favorite Homecoming tradition or event?

 Prompt: The thing that I love the most about being a part of the lakeside community is that I am able to feel welcome all of the time. Though the school is really big I still feel like it is a home! To show off my school spirit I always attend pep rallies and make sure that I am cheering on our school! My favorite Homecoming tradition is going out to dinner with friends before!

Summary: Today we listened to everyone's Two Kinds story

Reflection: I think that it is important to listen to how everyone's culture effects them. This can show us how everyone lives their life and how their culture makes them the person they are today!

 prompt: Over the break I went to help volunteer at a local food shelter. Doing this was something that I am regularly doing this year, but I hadn't done it over Thanksgiving break before. The time at which I helped out was the day before Thanksgiving so it was super busy. Doing this was super memorable because I was able to help the people in my community get the food that they need to live. This made me feel so thankful for the resources I already have that allow for me to have food, but also I felt really thankful that places like the food shelter exist to help people.  Summary: Today we read letters 46-50 in the book.  Reflection: I think that it is really important to realize what you are thankful for in life. If you spend some time reflecting on what is good in your life and what you should be thankful for, it allows you to realize the good in your life and the things that are good for you.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course.  Prompt: The thing that I most enjoyed about the class was the group projects that we got to do. I loved the people that I worked with in those projects and it allowed for me to spend time with them in the class which made it so much fun. Overall I don't think that there is really an area that I need help with. The assignments in the class were always something that I could manage, the only thing that I needed help with was making sure that I did the assignments, but I have already communicated a strategy with my friends to help make sure that I am on top of my assignments.  Summary: Today I slept in and I was able to finish all of the work I had to do for the rest of the semester.  Reflection: Now that we are at the end of the year it is important to look back and see all of the things that went well and didn't go well in the semester to help you communicate with your teachers for next year to see if they can help you make the year a better one!

Letters 11–16 show how relationships can be full of misunderstanding and pressure. Harpo wants love, but he also wants power. Sofia wants freedom, not control. Reflect on a time when someone’s desire for control hurt a friendship or relationship. What advice would you give to Harpo or Sofia if you could?

 Prompt: One time when I was in middle school one of my friends wanted to be the person who was in charge of everything in our friend group. This caused the people in the group to become upset this was because they didn't want one person to become the "leader of the group" this caused the friend group to split apart. I would tell Harpo and Sofia to follow what seems right, don't listen to other people to base on how your marraige show go.  Summary: Today we just read the book the color purple.  Reflection: I think that it is important to listen to what feels right for you and the people around you, rather than looking at how others are.
