How does Rose’s role as a wife and mother reflect societal expectations of women, particularly African American women, in the 1950s, and how does her sense of duty impact her relationship with Troy?

Prompt: i think the current time period that this novelist set the role that Rose plays is a very well made mother. She treats her kid like a kid that she still loves and cares for even though he is an adult. And when her kid is not treated the Best by her husband and his dad she makes sure that he is okay because she wants to make sure that he's all right in the long run and isn't offended by the words of others. though in the modern day it is seen less important I still think that they type of mother she is is really important.

Summary: We continued to read Fences.

Reflection: when reading the novel further and realizing the deeper emotions behind the characters thoughts feelings and actions is important in understanding what societal Norms were like back then and how it affected how each character is. This is important because it can show us into how people were treated during that time period and how different it is from the modern day.

Discuss something meaningful or memorable you experienced over the break, or reflect on what you felt most thankful for during that time.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

In "The Lamb" and "The Tyger", both poems suggest that beauty and danger can come from the same source. Describe a time when something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you. How did that experience change the way you see the world or the idea of “goodness”?
