Write about an experience when someone assumed something about you because of a stereotype. What was the situation, and what did you do?

Prompt: The only time that I have been stereotyped as a male is that I was told that I am supposed to be strong and not cry. Though I am a very emotional person who knows that crying is totally normal. I have been told that men are not supposed to cry or show emotion, but crying is a way to relieve stress and built up emotions. I was upset about a bad test grade and I was talking to someone and they got upset at me and told me "men don't cry about trivial stuff". This made me upset and I used that as fuel to know that I am who I want to be and I shouldn't listen to hateful things.

Summary: Today we talked about different culture's stereotypes.

Reflection: I think that it is important to learn and understand the different stereotypes on people can help us better understand what to say and what not to say around people so we can be respectful to others.

Discuss something meaningful or memorable you experienced over the break, or reflect on what you felt most thankful for during that time.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

In "The Lamb" and "The Tyger", both poems suggest that beauty and danger can come from the same source. Describe a time when something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you. How did that experience change the way you see the world or the idea of “goodness”?
