Judith Ortiz Cofer says, “The Island travels with you.” What part of your culture, family, or identity do you feel “travels” with you everywhere you go?

Prompt: one part of my culture that I feel like will never leave me no matter where I go is the traditions I have on certain holidays. Depending on the holiday my family has many different Traditions that we follow and allows us to differentiate ourselves from other cultures. Some of these holiday traditions include going to different family members houses on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day or are traditions on Easter.

Summary: today we read a story about a girl who's culture follows her everywhere no matter where she goes.

Reflection: I think that today's lesson is important because it shows us how no matter where a person goes their culture will always follow them and will always be there even when they try to hide it or change it in any way which is important to know to understand how culture works for each different person.

Discuss something meaningful or memorable you experienced over the break, or reflect on what you felt most thankful for during that time.

As the first semester comes to an end, take time to reflect on your learning and growth in this course. In a well-developed response, explain what you enjoyed most about the class, identify the project or assignment you found most engaging, and discuss which aspect of the course you connected with the most (such as poetry, fiction, writing, or discussion). Finally, reflect on one area where you feel you need additional support or improvement as we move into the spring semester.

In "The Lamb" and "The Tyger", both poems suggest that beauty and danger can come from the same source. Describe a time when something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you. How did that experience change the way you see the world or the idea of “goodness”?
