Describe how gender roles or patriarchy influence your identity?

In the modern world the gender norms that are placed on males are what shapes who men are. One example of this is paying. So many times men are expected to pay for the dinner of someone else that they are going with even if they didn't even eat. This can shape how males think into thinking that they are only used for money. There are also other norms and things that are expected like a lot of times men are expected not to show too much emotion. This can be very harmful to people when they learn that they shouldn't show their emotions and just hide them so they can fit the norm.

Today we discussed about the cultural identity of ourselves and started working on an identity mask.

I think today's lesson was very good for learning about many people's different identities and how they fit into social norms. It was also good to look into ourselves and see how our culture and different societal norms that are constantly surrounding us affect our daily lives. It was interesting to see myself the different things that shaped me to the person I am today. I think that is very important for a person to understand where they come from and what makes them who they are.
