Describe a meaningful family tradition unique to your culture and explain how it mirrors or contrasts with the cultural identity themes of expectations and roles in "Girl" by Jamaica Kincaid.
In my culture and religion it is normal to follow the holiday of Easter. During that holiday is is custom to go to a family members house and spend time with them over a dinner. In my family we give each other gifts and Easter baskets filled with candy. This contrasts the culture shown in the book because in Easter it is very laid back and giving while the culture inside the story is strict. On Easter nothing is expected unlike the book where many things are expected from the girl.
Summery: today we took our ID photos and discussed about culture in different places.
Reflection: though there weren't a lot of things that we learned today more about the differences in culture in many different places. I think that it is very interesting to have the ability to see all of the different cultures that each person has in the world. I also learned that many people look good in wigs and that people aren't allowed to wear hats during the yearbook photos.
